Resident-led means that the residents of an area are in control of the decisions that will shape their community. It emphasizes the power and importance of local people to make decisions that affect their lives and environment. By recognizing the unique perspectives and knowledge of local people, resident-led initiatives can lead to greater engagement, ownership, and accountability over development projects within a community. Such initiative can also help foster trust between residents and governments as well as provide opportunities for meaningful conversations between both parties. Ultimately, resident-led initiatives allow residents to be part of meaningful change in their own communities. This type of approach has been shown to empower individuals and make them feel more connected with the decisions being made about their future. It is an essential part of a healthy, vibrant and engaged community. Overall, resident-led initiatives are incredibly important for fostering local participation in development projects and providing meaningful opportunities for people to be involved in the decisions that affect their lives. The power of these initiatives lies in their ability to bring together different parties who can work together towards a common goal and create positive change within a community. This type of approach has been shown to be highly effective when building trust between governments, non-profits, and residents. By taking this initiative forward we can ensure that everyone has a voice in the decisions that shape our collective future. As Jordan Peterson said: "Successful communities must have meaningful involvement from all stakeholders." Therefore, it is essential for us to recognize the importance of resident-led initiatives in our own communities.
